Young Single Adult Service Trips

Typical Schedule

5 day trip (with Sunday)
Day 1 (Sunday):  Cross border early morning, attend church, visit orphanage, fireside.
Days 2&3: (Mon & Tues): Wake to singing, scriptures and food. Work on service projects. Evening activities.
Day 4 (Wednesday): Excursion day
Day 5 (Thursday): Wake to singing, scriptures and food. Work on service projects. Evening activities.
Day 6: Cross border early morning into USA

4 day trip
Day 1:  Cross border, unpack at Chispa, work on service projects. Evening: Visit orphanage.
Days 2:: Wake to singing, scriptures and food. Work on service projects. Evening activities.
Day 3: Excursion day
Day 4: Wake to singing, scriptures and food. Work on service projects. Evening activities.
Day 5: Cross border early morning into USA

Accommodations

The Chispa building has bunk beds with mattresses, toilets, showers, a kitchen, and electricity.
We eat most of our meals in this building.

What We Eat

Breakfast: Beans, eggs, tortillas, quesadillas, etc.
Lunch: Burritos, Tacos, Tortas (a Mexican sandwich)
Dinner: Enchiladas, Tacos, Tostadas, Chicken with beans and rice, Mole, etc.

Snacks, water, gatorade are provided throughout the day and evening.

Work We Do

Framing, painting, sheetrock, mudding, roofing, plumbing, tiling, electrical, shovel work, …
You do not need any experience in doing these things.  We will train you on the job.

Evening Activities

Dinner and performances from locals (dancing, singing, music), beach, night games, orphanage visit, etc.

Travel

You are responsible for all costs of US travel to and from the border.
Transportation will be provided while in Tijuana.

Crossing the Border into the USA

We will cross the border together.  It is a fun experience that can last 30 minutes or 4 hours.
A passport is required.

How Your Donation is Used

Your trip fee is 100% tax deductible because we are a 501 c3 non-profit organization.
Your donation will be used mostly for building materials.
In addition, it pays for food, Chispa building upkeep, entertainment and to help ongoing Spark of Hope Foundation programs.

Age Restrictions

This trip is restricted to unmarried participants between the ages of 18 and 29.
